It was the same for me with ear plugs. Never bothered couldn't get on with them then made the effort and now can't go out without them.
It's a Gilles chain adjuster with optional paddock stand lifter fitted.
Not had any problems with mine, some 4000 ish miles and some very wet ones as well. Always used Wurth dry chain lube and not cleaned the chain...
