It can be done mate. It's is simply a case if removing all the plumbing and then the ABS ECU as it is a stand alone system.
Can't see any problems with removing the ABS system. I'm also doing the same in the next week or 2.

They are known to go mate. Mine is on it's way also with 12k miles on the clock. Some go even sooner.

No need for a replacement ECU mate. It's completely independent of the bikes main ECU ;)
