it doesn't need to have one,the pressure on the M/C should be enough as long as there is plenty of free movement from the lever
if your racing in s/stock spec then yes you need to have one,you could run a thumb brake in conjunction,but the original m/c+lever has to be there...
thought it was fitted to the new bmw already (bosch,2015)
