I doubt the hole in the breather pipe is your main problem mate, the breather pipe is just that a breather to allow air into the tank as the fuel...

Matt, don't use petrol for chain cleaning purposes! It will dry out the rubber seals, use paraffin, WD40, dedicated chain cleaners but NOT petrol!
