I'd like a winter hack but a 3 hour weekend weekly commute in winter is just too much.
I'm an all year rider, however 3 hours in winter is a bit much so i'm buying a cheap runaround for this winter.

Keep all the standard bits to refit when you sell it and unless your getting a 2012 then buy a private plate and keep the bike.
