Ok I had a poxy cyclist turn right across me from between stationary traffic heading in the opposite direction yesterday morning. I was unable to brake so swerved to miss him but there was traffic turning left ahead and loads of commuters coming out of Euston station and I clipped a beer bottle (!- really) in the gutter then the kerb which caused a low speed front-tuck off. The R&G s held up but the rear view ( previously floppy ) mirror cracked and a section of the front cowl snapped. So if anyone has a black 08- front cowl and LHS full mirror / indicator unit and LHS full R&G's ( main aero) can you give me a shout. I'm very stiff but hope to be back on the road ASAP and it could have been worse. Police said its a CCTV blind spot. Damn uninsured cyclists. Anyone got any experience taking these idiots to small claims? Probably not worth it but I'm sick of the bastards. Thanks GaryS

Just write to the cyclist and explain he is liable for the damage, send a reasonable claim for items damage.
Ask if he has personal liability insurance and if so the provider so a claim can be made against them (household insurance often includes it, but may only apply within the home)

State that in the absence of an insurance policy you would have no option but to pursue a personal claim via the small claims court to recover your expenses. May just work if you are not trying to claim stupid amounts and being 'fair'

Sorry I cannot help with any parts - the upper cowls are like rocking horse sh!t

Sadly unless you have witnesses/proof and can identify the cyclist you are screwed on claiming off them.

Most house contents insurance would cover them from an insurance perspective but I don't hold out much hope of getting anything.

Am guessing the cyclist uses the same route everyday, go back on foot and wait for him when he comes along knock the twat off and give him another punch for being a tosser in the first place! Should be fine for you as police have said it's a cctv black spot ;) so no come back

Glad you're OK, them fookers are a hazard. Nothing against cyclists as a whole but there are a few that think they are above the rules of the road - I tell you if I was the president of the world those fecks would be one of first against the wall.

WRT to R&G stuff just email/FB them and they will replace FOC!!!

Wow great stuff guys, I got the little bastards details even if the nice PC who attended wrote down a 12 number mobile. Jesus you would think that they write down enough details to spot a dodgy contact. PC Plod have promised their traffic people will get in touch within 14 days so that should be in his note book. The day before I was riding home thru an extended length of the Hackney badlands, where rich kids with skinny drainpipes and facial hair have replaced the ordinary working people who lived there when I was young and this bloke undertook me thru 3 extended red lights pausing just before the middle before riding across on his carbon frame racer. I posted here ages ago about a guy who took me off going through a red on his bike within a mile of there and then ran away when I had a Norton, which cost me a grand. I've nothing against cyclists ( per se )but they really take the piss. Can you guys ( sideways and sps ) pm me with a £ for the bits you have please. I'm sure we can work something out. I'm resting up ( ok I admit it I had my disc- lock in my jacket pocket ) and I'm ashamed of how dim I was for the sake of popping the rear seat. Had it not been for that I would have got away with only an increased dislike of cyclists in town and the cosmetic damage to my beloved blade. My ribs have gone a bit purple and I'm laid up for a few days. Idiot.
    Thanks GaryS
