So the SP has a max load of 110kg, rider and luggage, (only 3kg luggage on the back) interesting. Is this because of the subframe only or also due to the settings?
I was reading on another forum that even changing tyres can affect the TC,ABS,QS, due to the different profiles.

Has a lighter subframe, hence no provision for pillion passenger.

3kg of luggage is a bit of a joke. I might need to treble that. In fact I bet the Hepco Becker weighs that on its own. I think someone has already posted its weight somewhere.

I know that, but it clearly states that in the manual. It also views as far as saying not to put pillion pegs on it.

Don't see the point in saving weight in the tail. I'd rather have the option of terrifying a passenger once in a while. My 20 rothman, lighter and iPhone prob weighs more than 3 kg

I guess it’s the lighter subframe. Bikes are really light these days. My (V-twin) SP1s and SP2s were like pushing a car. Saying that there is an SP2 for sale at Chris Walker Kawasaki for £15k just under 2k miles on the clock and comes with Akrapovics. A minter even by my standards. I am very tempted but stalling on the possible £8k debt if I chop mine in.

I know it sounds like a backward step but I wonder if the standard bike’s sub frame fits.

Please do not post information that might entice me to drop my VTR and get an SP2!!;)

Damn! I did look at it too:). 2006 model, and very nice. However, I'll let you have it, @dessp2 :D.

I read it was due to the subframe. I don't like having a pillion. I'd much rather she ride her own.

Is this the new model SP?

A pillion never felt especially good on the Fireblade to me, so I'm not upset that the SP has no rear seat, but 110kg give or take is my own naked bodyweight, so a 110kg limit is slightly concerning.

Not sure if you will agree with this, but to save your concerns, perhaps your best option might be to actually ride naked rather than put on 10 kilos of clothing:D:D. Just beware of speed cameras though!

Marketed as a pure sports bike, it should be no surprise that the SP is aimed at solo riders. 110 kilos to the Japanese would be a massive Sumo Wrestler, so that represents the upper end of the scale.

For western society though, 110 kilos is not unusual, though among the motorcycling fraternity, most of that weight would be sitting astride Harleys!

I'm not fussed about the passenger side of things. But it would be nice to be able to carry more than a spare ganzi

Old Hepco v new Hepco for SP1.
Although I think it’s the same carrier for all 2017/18 models.
The new carrier is 0.5 kg heavier than the old 2012 version. The old weight included a GoPro camera mount (not visible) and the Kriega straps.
Let’s hope it get to use it this year.
That’s 2kg used up of my 3kg allowance. It’s like flying Ryanair. I’ll have to wear all my clothes to travel in.
    Sorry about the inverted pic

Fits on very neat.;) I can't see how anyone would have less than 3 kg luggage (including rack). That's probably why @ Lozzy hasn't bought an SP - her handbag weighs 10 kilos:D.

A 90 KG rider and 20kg of luggage makes 110kg. No worries!
