The engine from my 2008 was carefully dismantled (by a police forensic vehicle examiner / technician) and I now have the gearbox available for sale.

While the engine had covered a high mileage the gearbox can only be described (from my inspection anyway) as 'mint'

Will sell it complete with lower engine case (that the gearbox sits in) .

The clutch basket and flywheel in this image has been sold and are not included

Prefer collection from South Manchester but flexible as its a lump of weight to pack up and courier.

Ideal if you are racing this season to have as a spare 'just in case' as not easy to come by 'when you really need one' if you have problems.

Happy for any inspection - will add some higher quality images to this post in time if needed

A foreign object made its way into a cylinder while it was getting work done on the throttle body's.

The local main dealer told me the crank was shot, caused by a low oil level and the bike being started on the rear stand - proximate cause being the oil pick-up being located at the back of the engine meaning engine had been starved of oil when started on the padlock stand.

A second opinion advised the above explanation was most likely B.S. - and subsequently found a foreign object in the top of a cylinder.

The main bearing shells in the photos were running on top bearing material with no sighs of oil starvation or shock loading!
Unless it was the bigends that took the force of the impact damage from the foreign object.
Anyway,Good luck with selling the gearbox.
