My 2010 blade wants to run on when I select a gear from a standstill. When I start to release the clutch and let the bike just idle it wants to run on and pick up speed. I've not come across this with any other bikes. Anyone else come across this or is it normal.

I'll need to take it for a run tomorrow and check the clutch.

Basically when I pull the clutch lever in and select first gear. Without touching the throttle I slowly release the clutch and let the bike take off still without touching the throttle. (The bikes just ticking over.) It moves off ok but once the clutch is fully out or near fully out the bike picks up speed and keeps building speed up as if I where accelerating.

not sure why you would do that but ok, what happens when you ride normally? are the revs hanging up? is it ticking over at normal idle speed?

I only done that as I was moving it a short distance in the yard and could move it on the clutch

i would take it out and retry somewhere with more room to let it go. if it runs at tickover (1100rpm) theres now way it can pick up speed endlessly without you turning the throttle.
its a cable operated throttle so unless it aint running at tickover it wont pick up much speed in first gear without opening up.

Does it do it when the engine is warm or just when cold?

Problem sorted. The previous owner discounted the flaps in the air ducts but didn't block off the vacuum pipe. She was reving high which was making it take off.
