    Hi Stewart and welcome.

I have the QS factory fitted on my 2018 so I can't offer much in the way of a fix.

However, I do suspect it is related to the 'sensitivity level' required to change gear. On the factory jobs, we have a 'sensitivity' setting within our dash controls. That will adjust the pressure required on the lever to change gear. (Page 54 of 2107-18 Owner's Manual)

I do not know if the later fitting of the OEM shifter will plug into the electronics to allow you to adjust this via the dash/ECU. There might well be some mention of it in the instructions that accompanied your purchase. Otherwise, it might mean a red-faced trip to your dealer.:(
