2017 Sp susuension

    Good evening all,

    I have a question regarding suspension on the 2017 sp.

    I have tried all the modes but am find it a very hard ride to be honest compared to my old 2015 Blade.
    I am only 63 Kilos, does anyone on here know which would be the softest settings.

    Not good at manuals I'm afraid

    May well be worth having it set up by a professional - not usually expensive and often stated as the best “modification” you can do.

    Thank you both very much for that.

    The link is a great help and I will definitely try them, I was hoping to try a few adjustments myself now everything is electronic, just not sure which way to alter anything

    A3 is your softest setting in the auto ines or you can use a manual set up, Try this.. i use this set up from time to time in the manual settings, you need to set the sag to your weight first as this is done manually like the older bike i set mine to 40mm frt and 30mm back, easy done and then have a read of the attached.

    I sometimes use the Haslam setup and my own 1.2.3.A2 setting. My boday weight is 100Kilo and I find those settings rather hard, which I don't mind.

    However, David's weight of 63 puts him out of range of the electronic adjustment. What I mean is that I agree with @Spygoat in that more needs to be done 'professionally' to perfect a bike that is essentially set for an 'average' weight rider. This might even necessitate changing rear spring.

    Probably stating the obvious but are you including your kit in your weight measurements? Boots, leathers and lid add a fair amount of weight.

    Hi there,
    I have a very similar challenge on the SP2 which I assume has the same spring weights in it as the SP.

    Does anyone actually know what weight spring the forks come with as standard.

    Even on the softest M1 front compression I can’t get near bottoming out!
    Would be really helpful to know the weights they come with.

    I weigh roughly 73kg and the kit must add another 7-8kg, I emailed Ohlins regarding the suspension and spring weights on my 2018SP and they said it would be a bit hard for the road but correct for track

    Well, I’m 3kg heavier (76Kg) and whilst not the fastest I tend to hold my own in the fast group on track or at a Clubman race level and I have still got at least 20mm of travel remaining have just been posting 1:55 at Jerez
    The biggest issue I have with the hardness is the chatter from the front end and the number it times it tucks under which is holding me back.
    I am going to get the whole thing softened up a bit but just wondered where I am starting from.
    I am guessing that they are 105 N/mm but wondered if anyone actually had found out (105 would be better suited for some >85kg plus kit)

    Hi again all,

    I have just been reading the Manuel and adjusting the front and rear seems easy however, after removing the out rubber sleeve I am not exactly sure which part I turn for adjustment.

    Any help would be great, thanks

    The 'M' percentages of rebound and compression are noted on P 58 of the Owner's Manual. At page 176 notes M1 as track and M3 as street. Manual preload is covered in pages 170 - 171.

    Thanks for pointing out that page, I based my assumption on something I read recently, screen shot attached.

    I am still trying to find a more comfortable setting for my weight without taking it to a professional.

    David,

    You actually need to turn the blue anodised nut, so make sure you are using a 'soft' 32mm ring spanner, or tape the nut to prevent marking. I was seeing if I could find a 'hand socket' which would fit this. It's not too difficult a turn.

    I disconnected the electrical connector to make sure that there were not issues with the electronics. If you have a 32mm deep socket with a 3/4 inch drive you would be able to fit the electrical connector through and then turn by hand.

    You are correct that this is the base soft setting. As I was on the track I was working from the M1 setting. I had to go a little stiffer on the rear but the front, I needed to take the compression right off, and still was too stiff.

    David, I understand that money can be tight, BUT, pound for pound, a visit to a suspension specialist could be the best move you'd make AND remove all the trial and error. Not preaching; just saying.;)
