Worked the NYC International Motorcycle Show for Zero Motorcycles yesterday. Basically, put people on a Yamaha electric torque assist pedal bicycle, then geared them up and put them on a Zero for some laps around a small circuit. Bikes were regulated down to 11 mph and the delivery was stretched out, so even if they cracked the throttle wide open, it would accelerate quite slowly. I took all of these pictures before the show started since I was busy the entire day. We had a line for test rides all day. Non stop. It was a very good time though.
Very quick little thing. 104mph top speed, but the torque delivery is instant. Handles nicely and can pull the wheel up at will. With a 205 mile range, I wouldn't use it for anything but a run about considering full charge takes just over 11 hours via standard plug that is stored inside the swingarm.
So @Spygoat is this your actual next bike? I think I recall you saying previously that your cbr was the show bike
No, my SP Repsol was the Honda Intermot show bike from 2016. My 2019 BMW S1000RR will be whatever they have on the showroom floor when the dealer gets them. I am 2nd on the waiting list at Gold Coast Cycles in NY. They're slated to get 4 of the initial batch when they are released.
Plus 1 for the great pics. Any idea why 'Vasquez' is on the seat of the #69 Repsol? Might it be a stuff-up of major magnitude? I do like those S1000RRs. Even older ones are a premium price over here.
Thanks Boothy. I was hoping someone would do the 'save and enlarge' to spell me the stress. Quite right though, but It's not a trend I'll be following!!
Yeah, the Repsol wasn't a manufacturer display, it was part of a builder/owner contest. Loads of custom bikes were on display and you could vote for your favorites.
