... For an oil and filter change!? Is that right? Bike is on 8,000 miles now but was only changed in November with fully synthetic Putoline Syn4 at 4,000 miles and planned to change the oil and filter today with Motul 300v. Change or not? 8k seems a lot to me ...
Newer blades have a longer service interval but it won't hurt to change the oil and filter more often.
Changed it anyway lol ... It's running on 300v from now on so I will change every six months / 6000 miles ... Keeps it sweet as maybe keeping this bike a few years.
if it says in the manual 8k or every year and you do 8k in 6 months I would be changing the oil every 8k. I don't do your miles but still have the bike oil changed every 12 months. Even if I did 1k. Same for my kit car. Had it 11 years on the road since I built it. and it's only done 13k. it has a oil change every year with the best oil that is recommended for it, For me the 2 month important things for any car or bike is oil and tyres.
I average 12k pa ... Hence plan to do two oil changes a year ... A little bit early but that won't hurt and as I plan to keep the bike 2-3yrs it's not a bad idea.
8k interval should be fine for normal/ fast road use specially when you use quality synthetic oil. If you did 8k over a long period (say 1~2 years), then I would change the oil more often like the 6k you mentioned. you can change it as often as you like I am sure the bike would like it as long as you have the time and a deep pocket. LEts us have some feedback on motul 300V as I am considering switching to it. Are you using the 15/50?
I forgot to say will include a couple of track days per year as well... so every 6k or 6 months will be the plan. I'm using 10W 40 Motul 300v
Sound good guys. I am in two minds between Silkolene pro-4 and motule 300. I recently noticed a new terms used "synthetic technology" to trick people into thinking it is full syn and not semi!! BTW Silloken comp 4 is not full syn as I initially thought. thery are all out to confuse us..
Silk pro 4 10/50 for me at the next oil change and will compare it to my favourite (no longer available elf moto 4 XT tech)
I change mine between dealer services at 4k, so every 3 to 4 months, been using 10/30 Comp XP Gear change feels a lot smoother than with Castrol
