Sossige..... Are you screwing / unscrewing dip stick..?? If so could make it look like overfilled. You've got to dip without screwing in, if that makes sense...

The garage told me you have to screw it in as I specifically asked as that makes at least 10-12mm difference. I found you have to screw gently so the oil doesn't splash up all over the dipstick. And this has nothing to do with sex :D

Just checked the manual to be sure and you're right it says dont screw it in. Mechanics aren't as knowledgeable as they think....

Hi, no, not screwing the dipstick in - as per manual and label on the dipstick.

    Cheers,

Yup. I think we all need an Arthur near us. Bike ownership would be a lot easier... :)

I just read this entire thread and it is really good to see how many top blokes there are on here. I also own a BMW (in addition to my 08 Fireblade) and use their forum a bit and to be honest there are a lot of tossers (hence their nickname) on there. There is no way you could have gone through a 44 page thread witout some smartarse jumping in without a derogatory comment or criticism of spelling. There is however a lot of abuse about sportsbike riders in general and a rather holier than thou attitude towards other bikers. I think I'll stick on here in future!

Amazingly enough... I've never put any in mine... It hasn't used a drop in 8070miles... And the dealer does the servicing so far...
