Just snipped this from the MV forum:

"The results of text messaging while driving.......
The upper half of her torso was in the trunk......
But the cell phone was still in her hand....with a half typed message"

Very sad to see any life taken accidents,
Still shocks me on the risks people take, with there phones while driving with such high priority to communicate,

Who here has actually noticed a decline in the use of mobiles since the fine and penalty was doubled to £200 and 6pts? I certainly don't feel like I'm seeing it any less. Roll on self driving cars and full hands free Bluetooth as standard.

Part of the problem is the lack of police on our roads, which is a catch 22 situation for motorcyclists. Traffic police are spread exceptionally thinly.

Sad, prob sounds like a bad thing to say but at least she only took herself out and didn’t go the other way onto the wrong side of the road and kill someone else coming in the other direction.

My dad was on a ride out with his mates and some old lady drifted on to the wrong side of the road (on a perfectly straight road) into them and wiped several of them out, my dad was lucky and missed her but his mate took the wing off the car with his knee and a couple behind were worse off than that.

I think nowadays everyone know the risks.. you do that sort of thing you know the consequences.

Penalties aren’t high enough for this kind of thing in this country

Agree...I was thinking the same myself. Highly doubtful given the force of the impact that the phone would have remained in a hand. Sounds like the usual social media bullshit to me.

I pass loads on phone each commute round leeds through dewsburry. Silly cow in red c1 citroen putting on make up nearly had me off last week . The bloke in an a5 eating cerial out of a bowl in lap was a highpoint as i rode past . But phonea a nightmare. Come up to lights and you see the heads drop on mass down to the phone. I would love to see instant month ban and say 8 points for phone use.
