I hate it when I spend an hour in the garage adjusting my chain only to feel that when its ok im back where I started .I think its time to invest in some lightec adjusters
me three equal clicks both sides and re-torque and jobs a goodun'. Makes alignment a piece of cake too.!!
Anyone have the Gilles TCA chain adjusters? They had issues with their previous models but these seem pretty good. A little cheaper than the Lightech's too and I think they look better too personally
why do you guys use or prefer these chain adjuster than stock one are they better to adjust easier or just the looks ???
both really, OEM tends allow the wheel to move whilst tightening up the main nut which is why you shove a screw driver between the chain and sprockets. These do not allow any fore/aft movement before the main nut is tightened. Adjusting chain slack is pretty simples anyway but having this just makes it super slick. The graduations on both sides are quite accurate so you can be assured of correct alignment too, used to double check with a laser but always spot on so just trust the markings now. Maybe the only downside is you have to slacken right off to remove the wheel so may slow you down if you make a load of wheel changes. Pricey for what they are best buys are second hand - don't be tempted by no name units made of cheesium.
Great, will get a set today! Will be nice to buy something local for once instead of waiting 2+ weeks for it to get here!
I ordered them from Demon Tweeks and they got here in 3 days as the local shop had no stock. Very impressed with the build quality and made adjusting the chain much easier. I did notice the chain did tighten up a little when I did all the nuts up so had to back it off a touch. Must have a little play in it.
Gilles TCA Chain Adjuster - Honda - FREE UK DELIVERY waaaooow i think i wont buy this for a while new set of tyres needed first )) as Slick mentioned they might be a bit too much for what they are ))
I think they are pretty good value to be honest. They aren't needed exactly but they make it easier to adjust your chain.
Most places charge that for them new, look on ebay and other forums they do come up second hand but get snapped up quick
You lads must have money to burn I think I'll stick with my trusty screwdriver and my half-inched vernier calliper from work.
Put the axle nut on the opposite to the chain so when you torque it up it is not straining on the chain side because a slight bit will knock it out and make it slack ima anyway
