ITS A DISASTER! No sooner do I finance an xbox 1, than my blooming plasma decides its going to refuse to turn on. Is there anyone on here that knows anything about Panasonic Plasma faults. Doing my own research I reckon the power board has packed up (seems this model is prone...fkin great!). Trying to find somewhere that I can get one...please tell me if Im barking up the wrong tree or if anyone can help. Thanks people.
How old is it? If your research is coming up with those thoughts would suggest its past its sell by date, and time to get a new one !
The TV is about 25 months old! To me that doesn't sound old, I know I'm a tight miserable bugger but that seems a very short life. In my wisdom I though by spending a few more quids on a name i knew 'Panasonic' it would last a bit longer than the 'Celsur' type from Sainsburys. Im so miffed, starting to wonder if anything is built to last?
It is annoying that you pay premium amount for a product, which appears to have failed early. Talk to Panasonic, they may be able to help out in some way. I remember a tv programme a few years back where a tv engineer was given 20 odd telly's from the tip. He got them all working really easily, they then stacked them up and set fire to them to see how long they would work while on fire!
The psu's in a lot of telly's these days are prone to capacitor failure (no matter the brand) which are cheap to buy and replace with a lil soldering experience could get you back up and running again!
You should be able to make a consumer law claim. I work for an Apple dealer and we regularly process these now. We having been repairing Macs up to 6 years old. You'll need a proof purchase.
This is why I always buy TV's from Richer Sounds. Not only are they generally the cheapest on the Net (or thereabouts) they offer free 5 year Guarantees on most TV's or if not it's only 10% of the purchase price. I've claimed twice now in the last 18 months and both times it's been picked up and dropped back off fixed in a weeks turn around. At the end of the day they only Sub the work to local TV repair firms, in my case it's Telefaults in Stoke-on-Trent, so Google your local area, you'll be surprised how cheap TV's can be fixed for nowadays as they have to keep costs realistic otherwise every fecker would just buy a new un!
Thanks to everyone who replied. It does seem like it is the psu, and as mentioned earlier maybe a capacitor problem. I took the back off couldn't see any burnt boards then used an air spray to blow everything clean. Took the boards serial no and model type to order a new one. Put it all back together and tried again but nothing....well after scouring eBay for boards this morning., Just out of curiosity we tried the power again today and...ITS BACK! so obviously a power problem. thanks to everyone we will keep an eye on eBay for a board at a rock bottom price and keep our fingers crossed lol
Nice one! - have you a back up plan coz law of sod says December 24th it will go again (or it would in my world anyway) This was one of the 50" I have seen at £350 B&M: > Blaupunkt 50" 1080p HD LED TV - 291150 They also have a 40" for £200 which is unreal price (I think)
At £600 and less Samsung is King. Read avforums for reviews, it's amazing how many respected names in other areas, like Blaupunkt etc can't make a decent TV. https://www.avforums.com/
Fixed this problem a few times on Samsung Tv's but never a panasonic! I'm no TV engineer but can solder. Always been the power board, normally a couple of capacitors. Symptoms normally standby light on but won't turn on. Try 171365244380 item no on ebay, and ask the question. Some also repair your board and send back if you are not confident repairing it yourself......
I've also done this a couple of times on a samsung TV I had in my bedroom maplin about a £1 for 5 capacitors easy enough
I'd be wary of that. I used it once on a HP laptop bought from Currys, but the law states that the longer warranty under EU law must be a known common problem acknowledged by the manufacturer. Fortunately for me HP in America accepted it as a fault which was good enough for Currys to accept, although they discounted the claim based on age. Did you find a PSU in the end? It's also worth checking ebay for a faulty TV of the same model BTW as many appear with damaged screens etc. so good for parts. Failing that, what's the model number? I may be able to get you a price.
You didn't have the to strapped to your old 'Blade when you went snorkelling on it?? (sorry buddy) hope it is still working.
