X5 3.0d if I needed another big car again.I had mine for four years.Good mpg great engines the best in its class.Great drivers car too. A mate has a Q7 his car lease finishes this year and he is getting another X5.The Q7 is a lovely car but engine not as good as the beemer.
Yea I would say the same. X5 3L diesel. The BMW 3L Diesel engine is by far the best diesel engine I have ever had.
My ex-wife had a Q7 for a while, apparently keeping it in tyres was expensive. She then had a full fat Range Rover which they kept for less than a year due to all kinds of warranty problems. She now has a huge white Porsche Cayenne with black Carlos Fandango wheels (very mummy's that lunch) personally I think it looks horrible but she likes it according to my kids. I goes like stink as well. Personally I really like the Range Rover, but not so keen on the smaller sport model.
I've got a Cayenne Turbo S, what a car/4x4, absolutely amazing, had it 3 yrs now, no dramas except as it's the 521 bhp it has Brembo 6 pots Calipers, discs n bells, £1650 with discount parts only. Been Scotland, Italy, Brugge and just wafts along. Wife loves it too. It just shouldn't go this well or around corners like on rails unlike a Range Rover. Set cruise to 80mph to Scotland and back to Kent, got 19.7 mpg !!! Not to bad.

If i were the only driver between me and the wife i,d have the 4.2 tdi q7. Could you manage with a q5 size wise? I had the sq5 for the day while my rs was in for servicing and that was very impressive. 313bhp 8 speed and still was mid 30,s hooning it around. I do like the look of the rr sports but never been in one or known anyone thats had one so can,t add on that. A lot of nice motors out there.
i work for vw. the inlet flaps go on the q7 mileage does not have a thing to do with it some just go . sold loads for the q7 but none for the touareg for some reason. Just under a grand each bank to fix but a repair kit is avalible for the motor rods at about £12. a side . I am toying with the idea of one for my self . we need an estate or a 4x4 now the kids and dog are geting bigger and i dont want another a6. Think ill go for a nice x demo touareg r . very nice . The porker is just too fat for me and the range rover a bit too foottheball. Whatever you go for enjoy the rewards from her ladyship!
I had a Range Rover sport ex demo 6 month old and it was a pile of crap I hated it so many issues mainly electrical and it was gutless, it was the 2.7 TDV6 mind you I hear the V8 one is a lot better. I had alternator issues, ABS issues and even the boot was random opening itself driving along the road or not opening when you wanted it to. It was just a pain in the arse, was off the road being fixed more than it was on the road. I now have a Mitsubishi Shogun and I can not fault the thing, yes it its not as flash as the Range Rover but its a far better reliability wise, and its better on fuel as well. Also its great off road the range rover sport would get stuck parking on the grass if it was wet and muddy :lol:
I run a full fat Range Rover, best tip, move close to an independent specialist dealer, the air suspension can be problematic, the ICE depends on whether your fitter in the factory was awake enough to wire it up properly, the hunt for slightly wider parking spaces becomes a new pastime, but..... I wouldn't get rid of her, she gets me up the hill I live on in the snow, she has never not been able to take stuff to the tip in one go when I previously would have been on a multi drop run. When clean she looks like a diplomatic protection unit, when dirty she looks like I've been grouse shooting. The equipment levels are great, heated everything, as I get older I appreciate that sort of thing. Don't skimp on the oil services! Join a forum with obsessional landrover types on it, they love stupid questions and taking pictures of how to fix things. Or buy a vw.
