After a long wait my nephew finally decided to sell his car, the car that I've promised my lad will be his one day. So Christmas just came early today for George, great seeing the massive smile on his face as we trucked home this evening. Got a couple of years before he can drive it, hopefully we can get to spend some quality time together getting it ready. Thanks Jimbo, appreciate the lift to pick it up.
Better than their successor IMO. Know a few of them still going strongly, great cars. He's a lucky lad.
No worries mate, my pleasure!! Great seeing him so chuffed with it.... Going to be a long wait till he's 17 now tho. Will need a 50cc to take his mind off it lol
I never understood the fascination of the original mini until the day I took a ride in my mates cooper. then drove it. feck me a little go kart and great fun and amazing the amount of room stunning car Dave and your son will be pleased Enjoy
I once had a go in one that had a small block Chevy lump squeezed in it! Will try find a pic if I can, it was scarey as hell
Dave, get your lad insured for a 50cc Ped as soon as he's 16. Don't matter whether he wants one or not (or even uses one) just get his insurance on the go. As soon as he's 17 most Car insurance firms will accept a years Ped insurance as 1 years NCD, makes a massive difference at their age when the time comes. .............................that goes for the rest of ya with 15 year old kids!
My mum had one of these it was brown and we called it the "TURD" took my test in it and the examiner was a big lad which was funny as feck with his head squashed against the roof . My mate used to sit in with me on a Sunday blast when I was learning did ace handbrake turns brought back good memory's that picture . Hope your lad has as much fun as I did in one .
Mate, he's already got a 50cc on the list. One rule is its a geared bike, should be fine as he already has the pit bike
Cheers lads, build thread will be coming your way soon! Driving it home last night brought back memories of my little 1275gt I had at 17, awesome car.
My first car was a Mini Clubman, great fun. Took me 3 attempts to write off ! Good for learning basic mechanics too
First few bits done Was getting oil drips on the drive, so thought we'd sort that and that the engine wasn't getting up to operating temperature. New rocker cover gasket and thermostat sorted that. Engine was covered in oil Quick clean up's sorted that. Quick wash overs also made a difference, there is paint under the dirt! Sorted the tickover, was idling a little rough.
revolution wheels !! love them had on my 1275gt when i was a lad......crackin car good startin point.
We have had 8 in our family throughout the years starting with my Grandad who had a 1967 Cooper S in old english white, unfortunately he wrote it off when he crashed it in to a cow!!!!! I learnt how to drive in one when I was 8, that was an old T reg Mini 850, I had a British Open Classic ltd edition as my first car, it was british racing green with a webasto roof, cibie spotlights, cooper grille and a 60's bucket seat and my Dad has just finished restoring a 90's Cooper 1.3i which he has done out as a 1968 Monte Carlo Rally Cooper S. He is now on the look out for an original 60's Cooper S!!
Nice wheels dave, same as my first one that I bought for £90 when I was 15. No brakes, no door handles, no rear window, thrashed it round the fields behind our house racing mates on their trikes and trailies, slowing down by going into the long grass, happy days, hope your lad appreciates the fun he's gonna have with it! Lucky bugger.
