Think I’ll be going down to this. For once everyone’ll have numberplates, won’t just be me! Anyone else? (It’s MSV)
Bedford’s a fun track too - this was just last week. Hit an indicated 171mph on the straight (with speedo reducing 190/55s on too)
Yes, I'll be there in the novice 2 group. Was there for the first time two weeks ago and it was bloody freezing so I hope it'll be a bit warmer this time. Cheers, Mark
Sweet HRC! Is that an RR6/7? Didn’t think they did HRC on those models? I’ll be in the inters/fast but will come find you via your bike Forecast looks like it will be pretty cold actually - defo going to be one for easy first lap out of the pits!
Yes, it's a 2007. I slept in the van the night before two weeks ago, ice on the windows, never been so cold, bike was covered in ice when I got there. If there's no ice I'll be happy
Yeah there shouldn’t be ice but it’ll be 4C when I hop on the bike to ride up in the morning! Where do you come down from if it necessitates a kip in the van?
Not too far, only Newbury. I'm not a morning person and would rather camp in the van than get up at 5.
Live update... been mostly dry today, but windy as hell... bike getting bit lively at the end of the straight with those crosswinds
Pics are up! Grabbed a couple of you too dern... Some nice ones on there, think I’ll chuck a few quid the photographers way again
I'll have to keep working on confidence, body position, getting the bike over and getting more power down coming out of the corner but getting there slowly. The tuition was helpful and encouraging. Just booked a day at Pembrey for three weeks time and have a day at Thuxton in two weeks so plenty of practice planned. There was a lot of people on the day in the novice group who didn't like the rain and slowed down as soon as rain appeared on the visor which was surprising, nearly ran in to the back of one. I switched from the novice 2 to the novice group for the last session so I could pack up earlier and we went out in a downpour. I went past a couple on the out lap and then nearly everyone peeled in to the pit lane at the end of the first lap. It was dry a lap and a half later although the bastard photographer kept taking pictures when I was upright in the rain
It really is just time in the saddle - you don’t want to be pushing your boundaries too fast too quickly as there’s just no margin for error on a bike. I had a slightly sphincter loosening big rear wheel slide on that final left hander before the straight that made me reassess my eagerness somewhat. And yes - the rain was interesting too - that’ll be why your group photos are all just photos of you at the end as there was no-one else on track!
Yep. I was there. Great day. I got black flagged in the very first session. Triggered the noise meter. Standard exhaust. Had to short shift to 4th from the 1st corner to the chicanes
