yep that's 1 way of doing it scott, tbh though,i'm not sure why people do it,whats the benefit that you see? as far as I can tell the only thing it will do is take longer to get the bike upto a working temp as the whole system is workig, not just around the heads.

I thought the HRC thermo, just worked at a different temp, but again don't know that for sure, but the modded thermo I had still had the gubbins inside, this was running a big febur rad,no fans, modded water pump.

anyway, going off topic a bit.hope you get it fettled+plumbed in RR,if it's a road bike, you'll still need the fans imo.

Yep hrc thermo is at lower temp. 62 degrees iirc. Scooby quick question.... So will I be able to do a straight swap on the radiators (of course after all the faffing about) and not need to change anything else?! As in need to block off anything after?

    Scott any news on dimensions?

don't see why not,but don't quote me on that, never had one with a rad set up,purely track bike.

tbh I'm curious why you feel you need the bike to be running lower temp,if it's running too hot then you have issues elsewhere (or maybe rad issues, which I guess this would solve).or do you just want your bike to run a lower temp?(again why?).if so,putting a big rad on wont do that, they are there to help cooling, but not make them run at a lower temp.

Running at a lower temp I.e 60-65 will make the bike scoff lots of juice and mske no power..85-90 is where you want to be.

Hahahha well looking like a pimp was the last thing on my list. But cheers for that. I'll wait lad. No hassle. Just forward it to me when you get it. Just want to make sure if fits in the space that's all. I know if came off a 600rr which is smaller but you never know since it's not track fairings.

Anyway yes scooby. Bike has been runnin hot and I'm having trouble with the radiator. Gets up to temp pretty quick and stays around 98- 102 degrees. The lower part of it is in bad shape (blocked with like dirt and stuff) and I tried cleaning it but that didn't really help that much. Most of the fins are bent as well so was just going to get another rad so when I saw this I started looking into getting a bigger rad whilst I'm at it. So to answer your question its not just to make the temp lower. It's mainly to try replace my shitty radiator. my other option is to run an extra fan like on the 08+ but i don't know if that's a good compromise.

    (sorry scotr hahah).

ahh ok no probs.you couldl try blowing an aur line through the rad (not the fins, the actuall rad) to see if that shifts the crap.i know you can get them serviced to remove scaling etc from the inside, but if the fins are shafted aswell then might be better to replace/recore.

funny thing is,ive just spoke t guy who had running temp issues, the cause was a dodgey fuell filter, causing the bike to run lean,so in turn hot.

Was gutted to find that no amount of faffing (within reason) will get this to fit my bike unfortunately. God knows I tried! Bump for a good seller and awesome piece of kit! GLWS

A thermostat works on temp so can't dump cold water, if it's cold it's shut that's how it regulates the temp required, it gradually adds water by opening slowly and re closes if water is too cool or opens more as temp equalises. A bigger rad means more water in system and more cooling area, the thermostat just gets the engine up to temp quickly so it operates more efficiently. Bigger means heavier, water weight not necessarily the material it's made from so manufacturer will make them as small as possible with a safety factor added. Just my opinion.
