I'm not the biggest follower of sport, but having just spent 3 days at the Valencia motoGP I was blown away by the fans. I should clarify this is the first GP race I've ever been to. It's not just the show of support, but the thing that really struck me was how even the diehard Rossi fans, Marquez fans or whatever would openly applaud great riding, bravery, effort of any other rider. They genuinely supported all the riders whilst obviously still wanting their own to win. You just wouldn't see that at a football match would you! Bike fans rock!
Get yourself to Mugello in 2015, amazing track and atmosphere - just make sure you stay at the circuit as at night it is like nowhere else!
Went to Mugello this year, it's like a lawless state, in a good way. Camp where you want, park where you want, just watch out for the mad drunk ped and motorbike riders all night. Smiling just thinking about it.
When in Valencia, did you go to Cheste in the Saturday night? Mental, mental, mental!! Been a few times and the basically shut off the town and bikes take over. Move bars into the street and throw in live music, wheelies and 100's of bikes on the limiter and you get some party! Check out cheste motogp on YouTube and you kinda get the idea.
A couple of Brits we spoke to at the track on Saturday said we should do just that..... Unfortunately the guys I was with had booked somewhere to eat back in valencia and I couldn't persuade them away from their paella. Next year I hope!
Best you don't invite your mates to Mugello then! Its kind of mad but works - its def one to experience, if you stay elsewhere as you leave the circuit late afternoon all you will think is 'we should be staying here not leaving' The post qualifying drinking session in the sun high up above the circuit was poss. the best 2 / 3 hours, and we only stopped for a quick pint... that's what happens when you meet up with a load of mates from Scotland!
