Little disappointed with the paint on my 16 black edition, marks on side of tank from leathers won't polish out and going through a 30 limit I sometimes put my left arm across the tank loads of rub marks again won't polish out, seat cowl has like swirl marks and I haven't polished it. Anyone else had this??

That's the problem with modern paint, far less toxic and damaging to the environment but it's soft.

Only done 500 miles on her, just picked up a repsol 64 SP as a Trackbike wouldn't say it's had a caring life but paint looks excellent compared to my black model.

Perhaps it's the black then, My 2006 blackbird was only 11months old when I got it and that marked very easily.
Although unlike yours they did polish out ok
It seems much harder now its 11 years old

Buy some chemical guys V36 polish and see if it will rub out. Then put a paint sealant or a wax on it to protect the paintwork Other have mentioned Venutreshield which is another option but is a bit of a faff to fit yourself.

Some of the ceramic coatings are very good, I did my VFR1200 wheels when it was new, they clean so easily.
I also put a coat of Opti Seal on the paintwork that's very good and very easy to use, not as protective as the ceramic coatings but its much easier to apply.

I also did my car wheels with ceramic coat after having them refurbished, brake dust and crap just rinses off.

    +1 for ceramic coatings.

Fire any questions. Being a detailer I know a bit about rectifying paintwork issues. ;)

What do you recommend for cleaning the rear wheel? I tend to get a bit of chain lube flung onto it which gets more and more difficult to remove.

Using bilberry wheel cleaner atm but it doesnt shift it without applying, agitating and rinsing a couple times.

I thought that was supposed to be easy to clean off ?

but no paraffin wont harm your paint

Whats this ceramic coating stuff then?

I've always used either a sealant or a wax to protect my paint but that usually only lasts about 8 weeks.

    WD40 :)

Wheel cleaner isn't going to shift chain wax.

    Or this
    http://www.bearswaxfactory.co.uk/carbon-collective-45-c.asp

I have heard good reviews on the gtechniq but haven't used it personally but the carbon collective platinum wheels I have used and rate it very highly.
If my new bike does turn up I'll be using the Carbon Collective platinum paint coating

Gave it a drenching just now after cleaning the chain and worked a treat. Thanks once again guys.
