Hi All, Just agreed today to chop in my 2018 R1 for an HRC 2011 Blade (and some new windows and baby stuff with the spare dosh!)... Never ridden a blade before, really looking forward to picking it up tomorrow and having a little blast!! Will be using it for commuting and track days... Roll on May for my first bash at Silverstone with my new toy!! My other ride is a Ducati 1098R which is sadly more of a garage queen and doesn't do much more than about 500 miles a year and a mellowish run about at Silverstone so the CBR is gonna be my go to bike! Am not massively mechanically minded but Happy to do the simpler tasks, brakes, fluids etc... So will be picking your collective brains as I'd like to learn to do a few more bits myself! Will get pics up once she's home and begin the onslaught on doofus questions You guys want bins in your photos or is that just a Ducati forum thing?!!?? Phil
Welcome mate, enjoy the new bike and get some pics up when you can as they like them around here. Haha I’ve been lurking on the Ducati site as still interested in owning one so can understand the bins. No bins needed here mate lol
Hi and welcome, HRC are the fastest colour which everyone on here will agree with did you go C-ABS or non ABS look forward to the pictures; we love whoring them here
Thanks for the welcome guys... Not ridden her yet as the dealer dropped her off and did the swap at home as it was raining a little bit and the R1 battery was flat when I tried to ride it there .... First impressions are good though, feels small and very light!! The underslung akra exhaust is growing on me a little the more I look at it!!
no idea if it has ABS or not..how do I tell? Am guessing there will be a light on the dash....... Wasn't a fan of the ABS on the R1, but a decent safety feature to have if I've got it
Several ways; there is a box on the under tray, a bigger battery, abs light on dash and abs sensors on the wheels - also with ABS the braking is somewhat occasional...
Yeah I looked at the wheels when I first saw it for some kind of sensor or attached ring to the disc but there was nothing there, there is no ABS light on the dash so mines a NON which is fine... Lol to occasional braking... I had read a few horror stories regarding this...
Welcome to the forum Phil, enjoy the new bike, but it's not gonna sound like that R1 Funnily enough I'm looking at an R1 tomorrow... And an Aprilia Dorsoduro, and a RR7 blade.
yeah I made my tearful peace with fact that it won't sound so nice, but I just love riding different bikes so still super excited about getting out on it! Already scouring eBay and other sites for bits!! (Best get the extra cash moved into the house fund before I spend it all! ... Good luck with your bike hunting tomorrow
Finally got a pic up, that's the day she arrived... I've put some ASV levers on and took her for out for an hour about a week ago and was pleasantly impressed they do have a feckin great mid-range! (all the reviews weren't exaggerating!)... Brakes were a bit disappointing so I've just bought some HEL lines and some shiny Brembo calipers are on the way... quickshifter will be next but will have to wait a while.....
