    Hi everyone,

New member living in Thailand but originally from Montreal,Quebec,Canada
I bought myself the SP version and I will be picking that sexy beast on July 15

I'm sooooooooo excited about it !!!!!!!!

And if that was not enough my dealership told me that all the SP&SP2 owners will be having a VIP treatment at Chang International circuit here at Buriram for a track day on the motogp RC213V-S

Also Thailand finally made it official about Motogp race in 2018-2019-2020, it sure is a great news.

    WoooooooooooooWwwwwwwwwwww !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it would be a pretty small section, judging by the bad publicity I don't think that many will buy them.
I'm happy with mine though, didn't pay anywhere near full price :D

I have a new SP1.... Honda need to fez up and sort the poor throttle response...it's almost as if the ecu is programmed to give an entirely different response to the actual throttle position....from idle to about 5,500 rpm it goes a bit like this open..wait nothing, nothing then a little bit (like fuel starvation of just about to go on reserve on old bike) then bang its off like a banshee ... perfect high up in the rev range but hey useless on the road.. currently have a perfect 954 and have owned 3 blades. Sold my awesome S1000RR to buy this... dissapointed is an understatement

The throttle on mine is fine, very smooth and linear all the way from idle to red line

Have you taken it back to the dealer to have it looked at ?

Yes and they say it's an ecu issue for Honda to sort... both Ride Magazine and Performance bikes have longtermers doing the same as mine plus Michael Rutter has acknowledged it's not right :-( Its been reported and waiting for the factory to sort it hopefully

Strange that it's only affecting some bikes, but let me know what the outcome is, in case I have a problem

Will do. I noticed it while running in and thought at the time that maybe it was something that would correct itself as the miles ticked by.... strange .. you tend to doubt yourself and think ok maybe its just me... then you take your other bikes out.. ZZR14 and 954 Blade both of which have linear power delivery and if gives a benchmark to compare...clearly not right...arghhhhhhh frustration

Hi Smilertiv, have you seen the comments raised on thread SP Throttle Problems. My bike has the same throttle response as yours and I ain't happy. Has yours got any better with miles ?

Hello Kos, No it hasn't and I also not happy. Suggest you log a complaint at Honda detailing what the symptoms are and ask them to get it sorted asap. I rang them and spoke to customer service.. I asked the girl I spoke to if she has ridden one.. no she said .. just doing my CBT she said....Anyway, she said they are looking into it and need my dealer to file a technical report regarding the issue. And it is an issue as not only are the UK models doing it but also (from research I have done) Australian models... so its worldwide. Spoke to one of the guys who does the Podcast "Front End Chatter" Ex PB Mag and Ride Magazine, Simon Hargreaves..... Their longtermer is doing it. Podcast episodes 57,58 & 59.. worth a listen. While waiting for Honda to get it sorted I am going to get a Rapid Bike Evo module fitted to see if it resolves it ( I certainly hope so) Simon says there is a good bike in there somewhere but we have just got to find it! .Some think its the Euro 4 garbage causing it... but quite why Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW & Kawasaki know how to do sweet throttle response on their 2017 Euro spec bikes and Honda cant beats me. Best regards Smilertiv

Well Yamaha had lots of problems with theirs on the R1 and they have been making bikes with fly by wire for quite a few years.

Indeed, however we need to bear in mind that Honda Corporation ( a multi trillion dollar company) is far larger than Yamaha with more experience across a wider sector of the automotive industry and other overlapping sectors for eg F1 Racing, Aviation, Robotics etc. So, whilst fly by wire may be new to the new Fireblade its not something that they haven't done before or are not familiar with... therefore there is no excuse not to get it right before launching the new model.. After all they've had 7 development years maybe more with the 17YM CBR1000RR.

Good point well made, I did find out that the BSB riders are now using the throttle from the RC213V
they do obviously have a different motec ECU as well.

That would not surprise me, ECU reflash is easy and inexpensive and if it will fix the throttle problems some are having then it's s good thing.

It seems as if about 50% of new Blades have the problem and you have a bad one. My bike was checked out by a Honda electronics specialist this week at my dealer so I don't know exactly what he has done. I am told by the dealer that he plugged in his electronics kit and downloaded loads of data. He then went on the road with a data logger taking more data as he rode. Obviously he found no faults. Either he was incompetent (which I doubt) or some thing was altered but Honda have not admitted to anything wrong despite the problem being worldwide. I still have not had my bike back so I cannot confirm if it has been fixed. I have also raised a formal issue with Customer Relations as the Honda electronics specialist work done was more for the dealers benefit it seems and did not log a formal complaint with Honda.
