im interested in upgrading my brakes to brembo on a 2008.
Can anyone give some advice? Cheers
What’s the intended use for the bike, road or track?
What kind of advice are you searching for?
With brakes, the first things to upgrades are the hoses, then pads, then master cylinder, then discs and finally calipers (this is for the theory).
For road use though, aren't the OEM brakes more than adequate? An upgrade of hoses and pads is reasonable and will return good reliability, but to go the whole hog seems non-productive for the cost involved. I wonder if your money could offer you better upgrades in performance or aesthetics?
Of course for road use, the OEM brakes are more than enough...
Hoses and pads will bring more endurance if you like to ride hard.
I made this classification but I didn't say that you have to go to the end of the list your wallet will tell you what level you want to reach
Personally, i've got a Brembo RCS master cylinder. Just because I love the feeling, but it doesn't make me brake harder.
And this winter, I choosed Brembo M4 calipers. This time, just because I love the bling it adds to the bike And I already upgraded almost everything on the bike before upgrading the brakes.
Fair enough point, Odium. I certainly won't argue against the 'bling factor'.
For the road I wouldn’t go further than pads, lines and a MC.
That being said like above. I did add M4 calipers to my bike but mostly for the bling factor
It’s mostly for the “bling” factor I admit and if I did add the M4’s would I need to upgrade the master cylinders as well or use the originals for the time being?
Just like Goldilocks
An RCS upgrade on its own will make your lever feel harder,
M4 only will make it softer
rcs and M4 just right!
Upgrade the master cylinder first mate. No point in getting the calipers without the master cylinder
For road or occasional trackday: steel braided hoses and new pads. job done.
For track: Master cylinder, hoses, pads, discs and calipers.
Honestly, if you want to burn some money on your road bike, get a decent exhaust and some rearsets. Much more "bling" factor than calipers imo
Don't forget M4s also add at least 10bhp
These will make your eyes water!!!
Is it the price or the stopping power that makes your eyes water?
I always wanted some of these for my 7r but they cost more than the bike.
How much are dem Nissin's Dave?
My eyes are running so bad that I won't be able to find my wallet!!
I can't disclose the price but let's just say it's around the price of a secondhand late blade with M/C and rear calliper!!
I’d say that it’s mostly the bling factor that I’d be doing it for tbh.
