My 59 plate repsol has just about worn out it's original bt015 rear at 4k. The 15 seems thin on the ground and a bt023 rear tyre has been recommended by my honda dealer.
Will it be OK on the back whilst the original 15s on the front? Will it wear any better than the 15 which didn't last that long?

Stick a set of Metzeler M7RR on and feel the difference!!
Using tyres that are 6 years old plus on a superbike defies belief when modern tyres are miles better than years ago!!

Yeah just pay the extra £120 odd and get a new matching front tyre and reap the benefits.

Much will depend on how you ride, and how many miles you do, the 023's were good enough for the bikes in Ron Haslem's race school, until they were replaced with the T30's.

If you managed to get 4k out of an 015, you should get near double that from an 023.

I currently run an S20 Front and an 023 rear, and change them as a pair after about 5.5-6k.

Had Bridgestone on a 600 I bought, couldn't wait to get them off didn't like them in the wet at all. I use sportsmart2's & pr4s on the blade if they need changing for winter commute, both excellent tires. We've metz on the beemer theyre great too but I get more miles out of former. Like ramjam says I'd put 2 new tyres on specially with winter coming

I am of the opinion that mixing F/R tyres is OK (I do it) provided they are from similar application/ categories.
The key point for me it to get the feel of the combination during the firsts rides, then the brain adjusts automatically.

Think I've done almost around 90k on BT023 or T30's and only had 1 puncture in all that time.

Good grip and never seen need to try anything different , but I know its a very personal choice / feel

I got about 2.5k from a rear S20, but the front lasts over 5k, so pairing a front S20 and a rear 023 or T30 means changing the pair after 5-6k.
