Booked on at Cadwell on May 26th with No Limits. I'll be in the Inters group along with some friends.
I see they have changed the group names to "Lower, middle and advanced" now? also a note about losing out on the day if you pick the wrong group? I hope to join you soon, been busy at hell at work and family stuff, will be getting some track tyres fitted soon, not sure I can do any until june though? this year is going by far to bloody fast
Yeah I spotted the name change earlier this year. I guess it removes some of the stigma. I didn't know about losing out for those in the wrong group though. Glad you're planning some track days. Just let me know when. I'd like to throw some different tracks in too.
"Riders knowingly choosing an unsuitable group for their ability may result in loss of their place without credit note or refund" yeah I should be ok from early June, getting some new Dunlop D212 gp racers fitted in next few weeks, will be ready then
What an eventful day. A baking hot day, we were all cooking inside our leathers. 5 of us went as a group, but only 3 returned home safely. This was our little setup trying to stay out of the sun. In session 2 one of the guys lost the front in Hall Bends and low sided on to the grass. No major damage, all plastics down one side, but his leg ballooned up, so he couldn't get his boot back on which ended his day. The rest of us then kept chasing each other round the track, so I have a few videos where I'm following them around filming their riding which I'll post later, but in the 3rd session I followed one of the Blade riders, who 4 laps in, lost the back coming out of Charlies 2 onto the Park Straight at 78mph (on the GPS) during an overtake. The rider he overtook then panicked as the Blade flipped in front of him, but he moved over to the right where I was and put me on the grass. The whole thing happened so quickly, but I got off the brakes when I was on the wrong side of the white line and coasted back on to the track, phew! it nearly ended being 3 of us. Here's the bike, pretty well damaged after flipping. The rider had to go to hospital for quite a bad cut to his hand, but apart from hobbling back was largely ok with no broken bones. Unfortunately my front camera wasn't on, otherwise I would have filmed the whole thing up close, but I did have on on the back. Skip to 1min 50 for the aftermath.
Spoke to the rider today and he's up and about. Now looking at fixing the bike. In the mean time, here's a couple of laps from the last session.
I like your footage Muffking what equipment do you use. ? I have been looking at the Garmin VIRB 30 with the 10hz GPS built in. Unfortunately I sold my QStarz gps recorder when I packed in doing track days a few years ago. How do find RaceRender to use ?
I use a Qstartz GPS receiver mounted to the bike, connected via Bluetooth to an Android phone in my pocket running the paid version of Racechrono. The videos are then edited with Racerender, which adds the Picture in Picture and the GPS data. However I'm currently using the trial version, which is limited to only 3 minute videos. Ideally I'd like to go halves with someone on the software as a Racerender license covers 3 PC's or Mac's
That's exactly how I did it, but wasn't aware of RaceRender at the time (if it was available back then 2011 ) If I get the new Garmin camera I'll deffo consider the paid version of RaceRender
Let me know if you do. Makes sense to split the cost of the software as I only want it on my Macbook.
Finally got to Cadwell but not on your dates sadly Awesome weather today for a track day any others dates you have booked yet?
Ahh you should have said. I've been following No Limits comments about the dual Inters groups and the changes to the evening sessions. If I had known that you were there I'd have made an effort to go. Let me know next time you're there. I can usually juggle work to be free. Especially when there is a track day involved
It may have been on a different date, but the NL booking system went wrong one day and allowed more people to book Inters than they had space for. The result was a 4 group day and no lunch break for the marshalls. Shouldn't be a problem. Meant to be at a BBQ that evening, but I can't see it getting in the way
July 24th arrived home safe, despite the really sh!tty weather. No real dramas so no decent videos, although the rear WOW is past its best now. Here's one to show the conditions. Bike needs a wash now
