I always heard the term buy the best lid you can etc but early on it wasn't something I prioritized I will admit. It wasn't till I seen my mate after his crash which he was airlifted from, you could see from the shell of his helmet that there was multiple heavy blows but apart from the intense bruising on his neck from the strap his head was unscathed. He swears by Arai and it was enough to persuade me to look at their lids. The fit off the shelf is not ideal for me and I'm better suited to a Shoei or AGV but had the custom fit from Arai's technician who tailored it to my tiny noggin with fine adjustments and it's perfect! I would still go back to a Shoei in a heartbeat, love the look of the x spirit 3. Always impressed with the advances the big lid companies are making. My Dad has a cabinet with some old Stadium Achilles helmets in (says they were the best lid of his day?) and you put a modern lid next to it and the difference Always laugh at videos of Americans riding with shades and a bandana. Gene pool self regulation right there. My current lid.
Ah, I remember the old stadiums with the blue centre stripe edged in gold. I reckon they'd just fly off our head now with the speeds we do!
I need a new lid as my shark rsr pro is 6yrs old and has been a great lid.....tried on a Arai rx7 new Maverick rep need a small but xsmall cheek pads...and smaller skullcap to get the perfect fit....I to crashed in a Arai..and no doubt the quality saved my head but I just found it quite enclosing and heavy.....then tried the Agv GP pista r again great fit sits higher but I don't like any of the paint schemes....then tried the Shoei xsprirt 3 great fit felt light and great vision out of the visor looks like it will be stable at high speed and good in the tuck position love the look of the Marquez black edition with the red logo....what do you think winner.......also heard today Tommy bridewell in BSB leaving AGV for HJC.....I think they are having a marketing purge...
I've got two sets of leathers already, Ixons with a set of gloves to match, also Alpinestars with GP pro gloves to match. Gonna sell the alpinestars set with gloves in the near future. Going for an all black look so I don't clash with the new bikes paintjob which would be a travesty! ! Keep an eye out in for sale section
