Do you have a service called Carvana in the UK? It's kind of like Amazon for cars. They run adverts for the service all over the place here in the US. So, I went online Monday night, picked out a car, paid for it and scheduled delivery for this evening. I bought the missus a 2016 Jeep Patriot for Christmas. They deliver it on a flatbed truck that has a live GPS tracker so you can see where it is while it's on the way to you. If you don't like the vehicle, they take it away and you re not liable for any cost. Nothing gets charged until you sign the delivery paperwork. It was the most painless car purchase I've ever made. They even have an option to have your car delivered to a car vending machine if you keep odd hours and can't be home for delivery. It's a building with individual garages that they drop your new vehicle off at. You arrive at the vending machine, scar a QR code, the garage opens and you take your vehicle. Brilliant idea! Can't wait to get the Jeep and see the look on her face. She drives an absolute piece of shit 1999 Ford Taurus and has constant problems with the cursed thing. www.carvana.com
Bloody hell....nice one dude Top present that Hopefully if any of the uk members wives look in on here, it'll give them even more reason to let the dog lick the hubby's turkey portion after they've opened up their Kenwood mixer & knock off parfum set
Nup, no such service I have heard of over here. But then again, we don't have the exorbitantly high disposable incomes of our fellow USA buddies!! I would think that the 'dealer' would have to be quite confident of the sale or there would be some wasted transport costs! Sure, you'd said you paid for it online, but (from my devil's advocate perspective) would that be difficult to reverse if the vehicle were a shitter? BTW, I'm sure Mrs Spygoat will be very pleased!
Nothing's been charged to my account, not until I sign the acceptance papers. They run your credit to be sure you can afford what you've ordered and they verify funds with your bank prior to delivery. As for licking the turkey portion...there will be a bit of that when she gets her gift I suppose.
Have you done any checks on the vehicle @Spygoat ? Lovely gesture to the wife though even it it were rather costly It sounds like a great service but reminds me of a scam that is common in this country. Whilst looking for an RSV a few years back, I came across a lovely example that was based in Scotland (coincidentally) The seller sent me additional pictures and lots of information, however didn't live where the bike was stored. After skirting around my questions to view the bike, they said that I would be unable to see the bike but would deliver it to me in a van, upon where I could then view the bike properly and then decide whether I wanted it or not. Seems to good to be true doesn't it! All they wanted me to do was pay for the bike through a pay pal account, an email pay pal invoice was sent with perfect pay pal and eBay logos and all looked pretty good. Said I was fully protected as the sale was going through eBay and no money would be taken until I agree! Needless to say, nothing gets past me, not even some theiving Romanian pikey! Clever bastards they think they are! Just be careful mate but i hope it's all legit!
Bloody heck, Paulo. You know who you're talkin' to? Just pay attention to the first three letters of his name: S-P-Y. He knows what's goin' on!!
Carvana is quite a legit company. They are all over the news and adverts here, being touted as the new way to buy a car for us time strapped Americans. First, they deliver your purchase in their posh new flatbed lorry: Then they offload it: Then the missus poses with it: Quite simple really.
Erm.......yeah that all looks pretty legit haha Seems like a great way to buy a car, looks like a beaut! Mrs is happy too
What's it they say? Happy wife, happy life? I'm probably clear to bring the BMW home when it gets released without much hassle. Job done!
@Lozzy it was a very romantic gesture, clearing the way for another motorcycle is just a benefit of that gesture.
