Hi Im a newbie to the forum. Ive been offered a 2004 1000rr however one thing that I've noticed. It looks well looked after and is up for sensible money. However on the rear seat cowling on either side it has silver what look to be moulded stick on side panels which have the cbr 1000 written on them. The rest of the bike is red with the black lower fairing. Can anybody vouch for that being original... Thanks
They are not original, but were offered by Honda in the extras list at the time. Used to protect from scratches, but can also be used to hide them!
Fair play Iain, you clearly know your eggs. Thankyou I will continue negotiations then and may end up with the machine. I have no idea when will pick up what with the current situation. Thanks again though Maz
I stuck those guards/protectors on my old rr7 to save scuff marks from my boots. If the guard looks more pristine than the cowl then it maybe that they are covering scuffs/scratches.
I wouldn't be to concerned, you can easily pick up a seat cowl if what's already on the bike is not to your liking. There are far worse things that could be wrong with a bike Hope it's a good'en!
Hi All, Thanks for Making me feel welcome. After covid I shall be joining you all with a blade. I have another question this time regarding antifreeze. I will service the bike as soon as I get it back.. I'm seeing on the bay a mannol antifreeze. It seems to be in a variety of colours assuming that this means different types. Can I use this stuff in the bike..? It would appear that Motorcycles need silicate free..? I'm antifreeze was never this complicate back in the day.
