    Afternoon all.

I've got a 2004 CBR1000RR and I'm going to change the chain and sprockets before the start of the new season.

I'm thinking of going up a couple of teeth on the rear a la RR6. I think it's a 42 toother. Is that correct???

I think some go down one tooth on the front too. Is that right??

I've tried to make sense of the 520 mod. Is this doing this tooth variation mod? Is that what it's called???

Also can anyone give me any recommendations about brands to get / avoid??

    Any fans of AFAM.

I think that'll do for the questions :D

    what tom said :)

+2 rear -1 front is plenty enough for the road.

520 pitch chain is mainly used due to weight, but doesnt last as long as the 530.

cant gowrong with renthal sprockets, but theres afew brands to choose from AFAM are also very good.

    i use tsukabi chains.

I've wondered, as the RR6/7 came with 42 tooth rear sprocket as standard, and some owners add 2 to go 44, whether RR4/5 owners might as well go the whole hog and add 4 on the rear to go straight to 44???

So on the RR7 then...just go -1 on the front to give that extra zing... ?
Renthal-Tsubaki blend is my preference :D

I did toy with the idea but I couldn't bring myself to part with it, Dave.

That's what I was looking to get but I got the Blade all cleaned up for sale and about 3 people walked past my house and said how smart it looked. I changed my mind :D
