Compression test

    Hi all just a quick question I’m going to do a compression test on my bike as number 3 cylinder isn’t right it’s not getting as hot as the other down pipes can anyone tell me is there a hard and fast rule on how many times I have too turn the engine over?? Or do I turn it over till the gauge max’s Out ??

    I haven't done them for a while, but the 'old school' rule was that the gauge would stabilise upon two or three revolutions of the compression stroke.

    As Nigel said, also open the throttle so there is an unrestricted flow of air.
