Compulsory dayglo clothing for riders is getting a lot of press lately
    and rightly so.

Demonstrations in France this weekend are about that and the banning of
bikes older than 7 years from cities and a host of other anti-bike
    legislation.

However Ireland, which at least feels closer to home than France, is
also pressing ahead with 'Full Sleeve' dayglo.

The Irish Government ".... proposes the introduction of
regulations for the mandatory wearing of high visibility upper body
clothing with full sleeves for rider and pillion passenger."
Qoute taken from Section 4.4.5 of the Irish Road Safety Authority's
NATIONAL MOTORCYCLE SAFETY ACTION PLAN 2010 – 2014

    http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/Road Safety/Motorcycles/National_Motorcycle_Action_Plan.pdf

IF it was a justifiable safety issue, then surely the bikes most
frequently involved in accidents (under 125s in an urban environment)
would be the ones to concentrate on, but bizarrely the French plan is to
    exempt these!

MAG has already had the Leeds Demo (in May) and the Brum demo is on July
2nd. We need to be vocal.
I feel this'll be a summer of MAG activity..

I am sure you would look tops lol.

A day glow yellow borat mankeenie over the top might be the answer to the problem

OR people could try looking for bikes as if the person sitting on a bike with the lights on is not enough.

I guess bikers would also have to foot the bill for these useless (saftey) items too

i think we all need to stop mucking about this is quite a serious issue here.....its not because of the viz jackets coming soon its about whats coming next after this i think we need to worry about .....these people are not bikers these people are just trying to get a name for themselves and to get themselves noticed in either governments or votes from the general public .... they sit about all day thinking what to get up to next getting filled with all this crap from tests and papers from companies making money by making more and more reports none that are going to make us look good ..........if we were to go round every old pensioners house and help them with there cooking, cleaning and other work and we went on our motorbikes we would still be put into a bad light by these companies......look at Bill Gates gives more money to charity than most countries have in the last 20 years and they still slate the guy.....the press are the same with him as with us .........in some peoples eyes were are not a good thing

Yes mate, but we've listened to this sort of thing since the dawn of time and we're still all able to ride our bikes pretty freely, so don't worry about it too much :)
