Renewing exterior light that is fitted to my garage wall, the wiring goes through brickwork into the garage but according to instructions supplied the wiring needs to then go to a switch, the old exterior light had normal plug and socket arrangement, can I safely fit a plug instead of wiring into switch?

I assume it's a PIR light? Fitting a plug and plugging in is fine. Just remember that if anyone goes to work on it and the switch the lights off at the consumer unit, that light will still be live.

Not a PIR light just a conventional outside light
