Strange one this...bikes idles during warm up in neutral at between 1500 and 2000 RPM.

As soon as you put it in to gear the revs jump to 3000 RPM, stick it back in neutral and it drops back to normal.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers

Mines been doing this since I've had it to bits and changed loads of bits.
Pull clutch in no problem, engage gear and idles higher, back to neutral and revs drop, all with the clutch pulled in.

I've changed the exhaust, removed intake flaps, removed PAIR, changed air filter and fitted bazzaz with an O2 eliminator. I'm guessing it may be something to with one of these but I don't know what or why and how to fix it

maybe the clutch switch is stuck down.

Try start the bike in gear with the clutch down. If it doesn't start then have a look at the clutch switch

My bike will not start in gear as the clutch lever does not activate the switch, so the switch is always out, do you think this could be the problem?

I believe so, my CB1000R had this problem.
I think the rise of revs is there to help againt stalling

Just had a search on line - there is a switch below the clutch lever that when removed results in the revs rising when not in neutral. I image the majority of track bikes would do the same.
