So I'm looking at buying a bike from Hunts in Manchester. Its advertised as having Adjustable Asv levers. The photos in the advert show these levers. I've asked for some recent photos of the bike which now has some cheap Wish levers. £30 rather than the asv lever. Does he have a legal obligation to supply the bike as advertised ? Surely this is false advertising?
"Buyer beware" springs to mind, although it could be a genuine mistake, assuming they weren't on the bike originally. If you buy it and it isn't as advertised then you would be well within your rights to ask for the levers or cash equivalent. I don't see this any different to a bike advertised as having done 10k, but actually having done 20k, in which case I would use it as a negotiation point. The levers don't make it any less of a bike, but it could be worth going in £100 less when you discover that you wanted that bike for the spec
They advertised my SP as an abs bike but I saw on the pics that it wasn't. I think the guy who writes the adverts is on the sherry sometimes Have you spoken to them to ascertain which levers are actually on it now?
That's weird! The website pics which are clearly taken inside Hunts have the asv levers on the bike! Wonder if another similar bike they were selling had the cheapies on and somebody buying it asked them to swap them for the asvs as part of the deal?!?
I would suspect there is E&OE somewhere in the terms of use, but more likely it is just an innocent mistake.
Not worth getting a head of steam up about, not like its the only one on the planet, so either negotiate a deal that suits both parties or walk and go elsewhere, life’s too short to get stressed over it IMO
He clearly advert6the bike in a condition its no longer in. He didn't even mention the clock change the first 3 times we spoke. It was only when a said the mileage on the mot doesn't tally. I'm walking from the deal. Its still a good price for the bike. But I don't trust the bike/dealer to straight anymore.
Don't forget to post a Google review. It has greater exposure than a forum warning people about Hunts and their dubious practices...
I done that for the bloke who sold my car ( wan###) He did not sort out a warranty So I posted a review and then kept pestering him with emails and 5 months later he offered me £250 to take the review down I took the £250 and the review is staying
A mate from a local dealer tells me to always remove any tasty extras before part exing ( exception being an exhaust) as 9 times out of ten someone from the shop will whisk them off for ebay and replace with any old crap that's lying around befor the resale of the bike.
I've taken the asv levers off as one of them will fit my new bike.and I've refitted the pillion pegs so its standard for the next owner. All I've got to do now is sell
Don't do it! I was going to chop in my blade (same as yours) for my z1000sx (same as yours) and then my girlfriend persuaded me to keep the blade and but still get the z1000sx. She was so right. I've had the blade for over 11 years now and I have had the z1000sx for early 4 years. The blade is a much better bike to ride, but crap for pillions. The z1000sx has paniers that are great for long tours and is much better for pillions. But when I ride the blade immediately after riding the z1000sx it feels so much better. It's only costs £100 to insure the blade TPF&T on a separate policy with a years NCB and it won't depreciate, whereas z1000sx values plummet. Just saying, but I'm very glad that I kept mine!
