Bloody hell u were spot on!! Air intake is a bitch to get out!! Iv packed up for the day as it stressed me out, iv lowered rad as much as I can and I can't see how u can completely remove air intake with rad on there. I want to check the valve clearances so need to remove cam cover

The intake splits in two. Have a look in the gap at the side of the frame. You should see a screw either side. Remove the throttle cables to make it easier to remove the top section.

Then take the screws out of the radiator brackets to undo the other half of the intake. One bolt on the left top of the rad and one at the bottom. Then there's a slider on the right top of the rad. Lower it then slide the intake forward.

Have you tried taking the vacuum pipes and valve off from the underside? May give you more room.

Quick tip Rr-len, soon as the air filter comes off you should get some kitchen paper or blue hand wipe paper in those throttle bodies just incase something drops in un-noticed. Could spell disaster.;)

It does come out with the vacume actuator attached, you can pull the rad down out the way, use some card board to protect it from the exhaust system etc, I normally fully remove the lower mount and the front mudguard if I need to be extra carful, it's VERY wise to fully remove the rad, tbh if checking valves it's the best option, you can change the coolant as part of the service, once I used to try and do these things the easy way, however it never works out that way, now I just get on with the job and remove the lot. :)

The fun but is getting the rocker cover in and out, IF you need to change shims then the real fun starts! Timing marks are HARD to see, I make my own as reference points to double check I am on the money.

You get used to it, I know others that's worse! Junk the intake crap and Pair system and next time it's easy :)

Totally agree about removing rad and replacing coolant as part the service, was a thought of mine but I like the hard way first for some reason!! Although I did remove the lower rad bracket cos I know my luck and could see it stabbing through rad!

As for the valve clearences, if they need doing its you I was going to ring to see if you could do them lol
