Great write up fella. ESPECIALLY the bit about measuring the distance from the top of the locknut to the top of the piston rod on disassembly. Ask me how I know
Excellent guide mate, well done for that much effort. must of taken loads longer by doing the guide...Top Man!
The actual suspension work didn't take too much longer than it would without although I did have to think about what info would be best suited to have pics to accompany it and make sure I took them! Think I started out taking the pics too fast as can be seen by a few pics of a more blurry nature than we are accustomed to by the likes of barney n I also just left the camera set to auto too! But the write up itself oh yes that took an age to finish, my eyes were so screwed up with it to the point I couldn't even read it as it didn't even make sense to me anymore! But got there in the end!
Well, driven on by your thorough post, I've stripped the entire front-end and removed the forks... I really dont think I'm going to tackle the forks myself.... and, my mate who runs RC Express Racing has asked his suspension guy (the head-honcho of Maxton, no less!) so just need to work out how to package the forks up, and get them shipped...... gonna need a really big box and a shed load of bubble wrap!!!
perfect write up, quick question im wondering if the lowers can be removed? as I want to do some work to them.
Not sure on that 1 as we never had a reason to do it thankfully. I would be surprised if you couldn't though.
Congratulations on a very comprehensive strip-down and re-build process of a pair of forks, I dread to think how long it took to photograph and write up. Thankfully mine wont need doing for quite a long time. Well done mate.
