Hi chaps, has anyone attempted putting Goodrich hoses on a 2009 with C-ABS? I've been reading some really off putting posts about bleeding the C-ABS. Do you think it would be worth the effort?
Having upgraded the lines myself on the ABS I would say if you are after better performance then no not really. …. But if you pretty handy with a spanner and was say gonna do a coolant change anyway (ie rad off) and was due a full abs bleed and was after a cleaner look why not. Apart from that if you want nice hard braking just keep the calipers/pistons clean and the discs free and floating
Its mainly due to being offered a full set of lines from Goodrich for free, just wondered if it was a real pain to do. Does it involve stripping much of the bike down?
It’s mainly access to the front power unit (the one under the headers) which is the difficulty. You can do it without removing the rad but I timed mine when I replaced the coolant(fairing and radiator removed). You don’t however need to necessarily bleed it unless you have introduced air into it. The procedure itself is not tricky as such but must be followed to the letter to get the bleed through each of the stages. The other issue which ColinBR and Shiny found was a duff ABS ECU which prevented the bike from progressing through the bleed. Generally it’s quite daunting the first few times but you will used to it, got SwissT’s ABS Bleeding bible laminated in my garage, been used several times and wipe clean! You might also need the full list of diagnostic codes so you can decode if any errors flash up. You can do this on you own but it does helps if someone with experience guides you first time.
I will be fitting braided next time I bleed the abs, been told by the Honda guy that because of the way it works it won't add any performance... But they look good
Be sure the kit you have been offered is for the ABS blade, as it is different to the non-ABS kit I believe...
