Any issue with fitting these to an ABS model, just got off the phone to Bransons (Yeovil) to get my bike booked in for it's 4000 mile service and fit the HEL's, huge sucking of air across the teeth by Andre.... "nah we don't fit them on abs bikes i'm afraid more trouble than it's worth" ...hmmm What exactly are the problems encountered ? how do you overcome them ? and does anyone know anyone who can fit them succesfully preferably in Somerset thank you Julian
I did mine not too long ago, no troubles as such. If the lines are made properly fitting is easy, it's the bleed they hate doing. I think that mechanic was either lazy or just not competent, but I'm surprised they turned you away, the full abs bleed is almost a license to print money!
As Slick says the fitting is easy-ish.. They don't like fitting them as then they have to bleed them, however should not be a problem as they are used to bleeding the system right?
Ask them what they would do if you came back to your bike and found some kids had slashed all ya brake lines? Would they suck some Air through their fangs and say "Sorry Pal, it's more trouble than it's worth replacing those with OEM lines, ya bikes a write off pal!"
Arthur, Just out of interest how much would I be looking at for you to supply fit Hel lines to my ABS ? It's a 2011 model so it's due a fluid replacement at the next service and I was thinking about braided hoses. BUT (<-- big but !) I'm wary of touching them as I've not had any the reported ABS issues so far and I really don't want any. I'm tempted not to bother, I've replaced the pads with Brembo sintered and I'm happy with the performance so far, but I'd normally replace the fluid every two years. (Every year on my track bike)
Have to say i have had no issues with Bransons at all they've always been very honest and given me great service Spoke to Andre again just a few minutes ago, they won't touch them as they've had a lot of problems with the abs lights staying permanently on, the abs system shutting down (still have brakes just not abs), and sometimes very spongy brakes where people have had to pull the lever back to the bars two or three times, for that reason they just won't touch them, It could also void the remaining 15 months of my warranty. As Bransons are the guys who do all the work on my bike i don't want to go throwing spanners into the works, don't think i'll have them fitted now or at least until my warranty expires ABV Arthur made mine up for me 2013 abs model (2012 bike 13 plate) if they fit you can have them for what i paid Arthur
If your Blade is only a 2013 you probably wouldn't benefit too much from braided lines yet. Mine is a 2009 with 25K on it and I was going to do a full bleed anyway so thought why not change the lines anyway. That said if I had read you comments from your main dealer I would have well been put off doing it myself!
His Main Dealer are running scared and have probably been bitten in the past with their inexperience! My Honda dealer completed the task, albeit time consuming, and all's been well. Arthur and other OEM Dealers also can perform this task without shyting themselves so I suggest the OP try another outlet if his local dealer is at the lower scale of competence!
Does the fluid really need changing after only 4000 miles?? From other threads oil in forks need changing every year or so These Fireblade's are more expensive to keep than a woman with an insane habit for spending on clothes!! Surely Honda build these bikes to last including the fluids used ???
