    Welcome!

I'm not in anyway mechanical but wouldn't the shim placement depend on the valve clearance required?

Hello and welcome, assuming you have replaced the valves the existing shims could now be irrelevant.

Thanks for the reply, I'll check the cold valve clearance, the exhaust valves are new inlet are original and a have been re lapped, as the tops of the valves are recessed for the shim, would it not require a shim so the cover fits over the valve correctly

LOL are you spying on me ?.
I've got the inlets sussed out but the exhaust with the 195 &190 shim is giving me no clearance at all so ill be looking at parkers for some slightly smaller shims probably about 170/160

    Welcome to the forum!
If you have smaller shims on any inlet valves, you may have to borrow them for the exhausts so that you get a measurable clearance. You can then order the correct ones. It may be helpful to make a chart. "Valve number" / "Existing clearance" / "Existing shim" / "Required shim".
