Going to buy my first ever helmet cam, unfortunately can't afford to buy new so will have to be secondhand, considering either a drift ghost or early go pro. is there much difference?
I have been looking on eBay and it seems as though I can get something for about £120, that would be about my budget.
Is there anything else that I should be considering?

Didn't get on with my GoPro just couldn't find a sweet spot to mount it without it sticking out like a brick, also the batteries didn't last long, worse in the cold. Switched to the Ghost HD, was nice and easy to fit, also batteries lasted hours longer then the GoPro. I use mine everyday without any issues, also with external battery pack and 64g card it lasts ten hours plus when I do my trips.
Want to add that the GoPro wasn't bad, however I found the Drift for me better, I think a lot also comes down to personal taste.

I'd also consider the Sony AS30v.

It's HD but also has GPS feature so you can plot your ride and overlay GPS data.

Comes with mounts as well and fits your budget

I use a drift ghost s everyday. I got the drift over the GoPro because I don't like how the GoPro sticks out so far from the helmet. It's easy to use and lasts all week on on charge. I want to get a drift stealth to mount on the bike.

I had a GoPro hero3 and hated it. Too complicated, shit battery life and really awkward to mount. Bought a GoPro session when they came out and just bought a session 5. Brilliant camera, can't recommend highly enough. Can mount them anywhere simple to use, good battery life, shoots in 4K with image stabilisation.

Be aware, it was an helmet cam that caused Michael Schumacher's catastrophic injuries. And that was at skiing speeds.

Thanks for that, I have always been concerned about mounting camera on helmet, perhaps I should have titled thread action cam advice.
I would intend fitting camera to bike.

This is using a roll bar mount off the arm of the mirror. Rear peg hanger facing back looks good to and if you have crash bungs on the side it can be a good place to mount them facing forward.

    Hey,
I do some videos from time to time. i currently use the contour 1080p. works great. got the gopro mount for it and bought a huge bunch of cheap mounts for about £15 on amazon. Now i can place the camera at pretty much any angle. How ever if you need to record audio you need to use something else. I bought a cheap external mic, hooked it to my phone and recorded audio from that. no wind noise and sounds ok'ish.

I bought a Drift stealth 2 a while back and the wind noise was terrible so i bought a GoPro Hero 4 Black and never use it as its bulky, never seems to want to mount anywhere decent and the battery lasts about 40 minutes on a full charge.

Might look at the Drift Ghost S

I had a Drift Stealth 2 that I used for 20 mins before selling.... no real decent place to mount and terrible wind noise! Wouldn't buy another unless they become a lot smaller and find someplace discrete to mount so the Feds don't find it... There is also just way too much risk in signing your own jail sentence!!

I created a similar set up to this but haven't used it yet as it didn't feel completely stable on the adhesive pad.

I really don't understand peeps using cameras........why would you want to do the cops job for them, especially riding a sports bike, we don't buy them to ride like miss daisy.
