My new EURO spec ECU (and 4 blank code keys) have just arrived from Honda. I'm taking the keys to get cut tonight and hope to fit the parts this weekend sometime. As I understand I have to code the new keys with the new ECU unit. Does anyone here know how this is done? I really don't want to f##k it up as I believe I only get 1 shot at it. I have a document in Thai that I have translated but its still not very clear. It describes the process as putting in a key, turning the ignition to on and then wait for the key to code itself. The display unit will start flashing (not sure which lights) when the key is coded. Turn off ignition, do the same with the other keys and repeat until all are coded. Stat the bike to finish the process. Your wisdom would be appreciated guys. (Pics from the document in Thai I found online about this process).
The first question that springs to my mind is why you had the need for a new ECU in the first place? Also a 2013 model would still be under warranty so why are you doing this anyway?
I have the Japanese (Thai) model. Its restricted to 110HP and 180km/h. To de-restrict it you have to change the exhaust can, the velocity stacks and insert a EURO Spec ECU. Should bring it up to European power and get rid of the 180km/h restriction. I already have all of the parts needed. I've put a Yoshi R77 Slip on already, now I'm just waiting until after the first service (1000km) to do the rest. The bike will also get a Bazzaz Z-Fi and a tune up on a dyno. I'll get some pics up of the Japanese spec velocity stacks next to the Euro ones and you will see the massive diference.
Doing this loses me the warranty on the engine and electrics unfortunately. But who wants a blade limited to 180Km/h?????
That is a massive difference, you can why it restricts it. If you have any problems just fit your original ecu and stacks, warranty valid again.
Have you seen this? http://1000rr.co.uk/maintenance/10559.htm Don't know if it applies to your model? Cheers, Ian.
