Very sad day today, with Australian sidecar driver Dwight Beare, 27 and Paul Shoesmith 50 taken from us.

The Island looked stunning today in perfect conditions, now tonight tragedy has struck - Road Racing is brutal at times.

Thoughts are with friends and families of those impacted

Haven't seen the races, but gutted to read this.... Was chatting to Paul at sign on at the first round and seemed a really nice genuine fella! Was telling me about the TT and his ice valley team etc... Was very passionate about it that's for sure....

sad news indeed, for both riders.

    Sad news indeed.

Road racing in particular is a very "gladiatorial" sport but any form of motorcycle sport can be deadly. Only Friday saw the death of Luis Salom, the Moto2 rider, in practice for this weekends racing.

    RIP to all concerned.

Agreed, racing in all forms can be a cruel mistress and it has a lot to answer for. Road racing is road racing, dangerous and rewarding.

Thoughts their friends and families. RIP.
