For various reasons haven't been on the blade for 6+ weeks which has an alarm fitted but not connected to a charger......... And yes you guessed it "click" "click" but no "vroom" "vroom" so put it on charge over night, tried it the next day and it only just started ! Went for a ride into town, parked up and 5 minutes later "click" "bloody click" tried to bump start it but wasn't playing ....

Cut a long story short, AA turned up, pressed the starter and "vroom" "vroom" did a quick check of the starter system all ok, battery must be goosed ?

But as the bike is only 14 months old , would it be covered by warrantee ? I know the alarm must have severely drained the battery and possibly damaged a cell or two, but was hoping to blag it to the dealers and get a replacement battery as they must be £80 at least !

I know that car batteries are covered under the manufacturers warranty, so should be the same for Honda bikes. It would also be worth asking your dealer if this could be a symptom of a fault on the bike - could be additional drain other than the alarm. My 09 blade had no issues after sometimes sitting idle for a month or more and that had an alarm also.

    hey,
I know new batteries that are purchased have nomally 2+ yrs warranty on them but tbh you will be hard pushed to get a dealer to accept a battery back after the first yr of a new bike.

You may be lucky an get a good service manager who will give you some good will and change it out for you.

when you mentioned you took the bike a run n when you tried to start it you just got a click but when the AA came out it started up was he jumping it at the time?

In my experience batteries that are dead to the non turning motor n just relay click will never settle charge enuff to turn the motor without a jump(or charger) if it did i would be more inclined to say its more a wiring or starter issue rather than battery.

hope you get it sussed out and sorted soon tho.

Battery is covered for the duration of the warranty period. i.e. 2 years
