Does sound a bit like hype. How can they tell the difference between a rr6 and rr7 for example? It sounds to be a similar thing to that they use on scamera vans, i.e. a speed detector with video camera, with possibly a direct query to ANPR to get the registered owner details.

Yup its just a hand held version of what is in the van. Still can't read a bikes number plate from the front though !

Different version to what is in the vans
    Same company though - LTI
These record a small section of video if the vehicle is over the threshold set and will store this clip to a data card
Card is downloaded and read and runs a ANPR programme at the point of verification so the details are only those held by DVLA regarding make, model etc. Would still need human checking

The scariest part of the story is that wannabe volunteer hobby bobbies are being recruited to use them, yep these will be the same wankers that won’t be satisfied until we are all driving/riding behind one legged midgets holding a red flag.

This whole idea that speed is the only issue and only speed kills, has now become so ingrained the battle has been lost IMO, and that better driver training and education is the real need here. The authorities have no interest in pushing that line as it don’t raise revenue and would expose their over zealous narrative over all these years regarding speed only is the issue.
