This is definitely going to be one to get up for and watch...it's going to be pandemonium in the pits if all the front 3 or 4 come in together, no doubt there may be some dubious blocking going on.
Given the tyre concerns though, right across the Moto2 and MotoGP it's only right that they do something to reduce a catastrophic failure that could kill someone, and depending on who is where in terms of race position, the second section could really be a fight...my alarm is set and ready

Yeah apparently Bridgestone cannot guarantee the safety of the riders after LAP 14 on the rear slick tyres, so ALL riders have to cone in n swap bikes after this time!!!

This is the pinnacle of bike racing n Bridgstone look like utter fools ( imo ) we shud go back to different tyre manufacturers in the Motogp class j ket the rider / team decide whose tyres they want.

I know Rossi spat his dummy out when Casey was on Bridgestone n he was on Michelin, leading to Bridgestone winning the contract, but just cus theres a new surface on the track surely doesnt mean they cant make a tyre last???

Does this have something to do with Philip Island being freshly re-surfaced or have Bridgestone just had a nightmare ?

It has to be down to the new surface I think. This race will be awesome and I think this rule should be introduced at all races lol.

It will probably piss it down tomorrow and spoil all the fun as im sure the rain tyres will last the 27 laps

    It's a complete joke.

New surface or not it's a major embarassment for both Bridgestone and Dunlop.

The Moto2 race has been limited to half distance for the same reason. I don't suppose they're giving the fans a 50% refund.

The track was resurfaced last December it's not exacty a surprise it's more grippy and harder on tyres.

The commentary folks say its a mixture of hotter than normal temps for time of year as well as the resurfaced track that's causing the problems as its got nice new sharp stones giving loads more grip, the bikes are on the side of the tyres for most of the lap and the mix of track temps and the extra friction from the new surface it's over heating the tyres!

The tyre manufacturers took the decision not to take test bikes to the circuit to do any sort of testing and just brung the tyre structures they used in previous year, it's this lack of testing that has bitten em on the ass and causing a huge pr nightmare for the tyre manufactures involved!

In the end it's gonna be a crazy race day later! :D

Now they have shortened the race as the tyres can only last 10 laps. What a joke

Who came up with that stupid idea? That was extremely dangerous for both riders and pit crew. Two shorter races with cumulative time would have been safer.

At least Lorenzo admitted he ran deep into the corner when he hit Marquez coming out of the extended pit lane, though could have been covering his arse in case he accused of doing it deliberately.
It's going to be interesting to see what happens now with Honda making an appeal over the decision.

I wouldnt put that on mate. Some people might not have seen the race yet and nobody likes finding out the result before they watch the race
