Looking to get away end of June for a week and tempted by Southern French Alps - loads to explore and some passes I want to re-visit / finally tick off the list etc. This just misses the start of the main European holiday season. Normally I'd ride back but recent trips it feels like it cuts a trip short so looking at the idea of the French Autotrain (which may finish for good at the end of 2017) to haul the bike (and me on a separate passenger service) back up. Fare for bike is €99 one way, rail fair c. €50 for evening service, then hotel in Paris, or I use a sleeper but can't locate the service / fare yet. Just wondered if anyone had used it? My normal touring mates can't make this week so might be a solo trip - if anyone else interested in joining for some / all drop me a message.
