Just wondering if anyone has been to this years Motorcycle Live.
We went on the first Saturday.
It was a little underwhelming. We go every year (but not last year due to Covid restrictions) and the last time I was so underwhelmed was around the 2008 recession.
I'm not sure why I found it disappointing, the big manufacturers were there but there didn't seem to be anything "special". The retail side of things was significantly smaller with few of the big names in attendance. In fact of the big names, I think there was only HelmetCity.
The show caught us by surprise and announced it was 5 o'clock and was now closed. For someone that goes every year you'd think I'd know the closing time. Does it always close at 5pm?

There was only one thing that at the show that stood out to me and that was The Warrior bike (it's the black one) on the Dot stand, not a great deal to look at but the bespoke engineering that goes into it is excellent. But do i want to spend £20k on one? Not when I can have a triple R SP 'blade for less, but maybe I'm missing the point. In fact there was a few independent exhibitors there, which is nice to see.

to Fair I don't really get involved with all the shows and try riding this bike or that bike etc.
I do find £22 a ticket and £10 parking (advance purchase prices) a bit steep. And...why do they stop selling advice tickets at 5pm the day before the show is due to start?

I’m going on Sunday. TT marshals freebie. Otherwise I wouldn’t spend £22 on it

Agree about the underwhelming bit. I went with son and we left before 5 as we'd had enough.

I went yesterday. Not as busy and not as large even compared to recent years.

No real deals and SBS is cheaper than all the things I was interested in. Only bought some new moulded earplugs as you get free moulds take at the show, and a wireless charger adapter for my phone mount.

TBH main reason I went was to meet up with my best mate who I hadn't seen for a few years because of Covid, and NEC is avout halfway between our homes.

That’s the main reason we go. To meet up with mates then go for a curry afterwards. It’s been a ritual for over 20 years. Although we had a break with tradition one year and went to the good food show. What a load of shite that was.

Me and few mates are going on Friday. I missed the cut off for advanced tickets, so it's £27 each + £17 parking, unless I can find my usual free parking from the days when I worked there occasionally.
We're using it as an excuse for a day out and going for an Indian in the Leicester area on the way back if anyone knows of a good one?

Just filled in a questionnaire from Cambridge Council re their proposed scheme to charge bikes the same as cars £5 per day to get into the city. Interesting way they slant the questions too, if you tick agree with less traffic pollution etc it seems you must also agree with no free bikes when in reality more bikes could mean fewer cars. There's a small box to reply in words. Totally biased and can be read in the way they want not the way you intended. Life in Britain indeed.
